And as users migrate increasingly to the mobile world, online commerce is beginning to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>Studies have shown that mobile devices are moving toward a state of ubiquity. Pew Internet found late last year that 85 percent of U.S. adults own a cell phone and more than half of them access the internet through their device. These numbers continue to grow as more and more people complete online tasks through their phone or tablet rather than their laptop or desktop. Savvy businesses must stay on top of this trend, ensuring that their online experience is geared for both large and small screens.<\/p>\n<p>There are still factors limiting the growth of mobile retail. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.forrester.com\/sucharita_mulpuru\/13-01-16-us_mobile_retail_sales_to_top_12_billion_in_2013\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A recent blog post<\/a> from Forrester\u2019s Sucharita Mulpuru suggests that \u201cthe main road block to mobile sales is the checkout experience.\u201d Logically, it makes sense that completing the purchasing process would be more challenging on a small touch screen, many of which lack a dedicated keyboard.<\/p>\n<p>A clean, easy checkout designed with mobile compatibility in mind \u2013 coupled, of course, with a smart follow-up email program to recapture users who get lost \u2013 could provide a meaningful edge in this young market niche.
