5 Conditional Content Email Examples for Abandoned Cart Recovery

November 16, 2022

You may or may not have heard, but we’ve developed a new feature to help our customers maximize the personalization of their email reminders and, in turn, maximize their recovered revenue!

Conditional Content Email Blocks

Conditional Content allows CartStack users to present their customers with the most relevant email content possible, to give you the best chance at recovering a lost sale.

Conditions are predefined by the user & can be based on a number of factors:

  • Actions the customer took on your website
  • Items added to their cart
  • The total value of the abandoned cart
  • Product pages viewed
  • The region / language of the abandoned customer
  • And much more…

Once the conditions are defined, all you need to do is tell our email builder which content to show which segment of recipients, and you’re all set!

5 Examples of Conditional Content in Abandoned Cart Emails

1. Update Language Based on Geolocation

If your businesses sells to customers all over the globe, it might be a good idea to make sure your reminders match the primary language of the country they abandoned from.

2. Offer Discounts for High-Value Abandons

You may not want to offer a discount to everyone that abandons a cart on your website, and that’s perfectly fine. But if it’s important to you to recover high-value customers, you can add a promo code that only displays for customers that abandoned carts worth over a pre-defined amount.

3. Remove Discounts for Popular Products

Adding a discount code to your abandoned cart reminders is almost always a surefire way to increase your recovered revenue. But if there are certain popular products for which you’d rather not offer a discount (because you know they’ll sell out anyway), you can setup conditional content to exclude the promo code when that product is present in the cart.

4. Upsell & Cross-Sell Based on Cart Items

Abandoned cart reminders present a great opportunity to re-engage & upsell or cross-sell prospective customers. With conditional content, you can display similar items commonly purchased by other customers, to increase personalization and engagement, and increase average order values for your recovered orders.

5. Present High-Value Abandons with Financing Options

Think, for a second, about how easy it can be to hit that “Confirm Purchase” button when you’re grabbing a few inexpensive items on Amazon. Now compare that to the beads of sweat that gather on your forehead when it comes time to place an expensive order online. High price can be a major factor in cart abandonment, so if you offer any kind of financing (through Paypal, Sezzle, Affirm, etc), you could set conditional content blocks to display these options to visitors that abandoned shopping carts worth over $X amount.

How to Activate Conditional Content Blocks

Setting up conditional content is pretty simple, but requires a little help from our team. To get started, send an email to support@cartstack.com and we’ll help you get going!
